Everyone is always dramatic in this sub. As long as you arenât expecting a metropolitan city I canât see why someone wouldnât like living here. Slo is awesome, if I didnât live here I would probably try to live in Los osos or Grover beach maybe. Itâs expensive but nothing compared to our big cities to the north or south. Look on Craigslist for housingâu can find a nice place for under $2,200 but you just need to shop around a little. Food is expensive and not great but it is so so safe, comfortable to live here, and beautiful. Welcome!

Previous comments are all on point. It really depends on what you want. SLO. Pros. Great downtown. Lots of people your age range. Weather is amazing. Great outdoor opportunities. Short distance from coast. Cons. Primarily cost and finding a place. I found a small one bedroom that I am happy with and I can walk 6 blocks to downtown. I am sure there are some predatory landlords in the more âcollegeâ areas, but you can definitely avoid that.
Other coastal towns. You will have easy access to the beach/coast. Laid back atmosphere. If you want to surf or go to beach a lot, then highly recommend. But you will get more fog, and limited night life. Also if you DO want to be next to ocean, each town has different pros and cons there.
If you are single, I highly recommend SLO.

I work in Santa Maria and I live in arroyo grande. I love the location because Iâm right in between SM and SLO, itâs about a 20 min drive to workâŚAG is on the up and up, it has a lot of good restaurants and there is some cool stuff to do. SLO beats AG on night life for sure but Iâm not complaining there are still some cool spots this way. You really canât go wrong anywhere between Morro bay and AG though. Welcome to CA!
